904L stainless steel coil is an unstabilized austenitic stainless steel material with a low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel has copper added to improve its resistance to strong reducing acids such as sulfuric acid. The steel is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Coil 904L is non-magnetic and has excellent formability, toughness and weldability.
904L coils contain a large number of expensive components, such as molybdenum and nickel. Today, most applications using 904L grade coils have been replaced by low-cost duplex 2205 stainless steel coils.

904L stainless steel coil is a low-carbon, high-nickel, molybdenum super austenitic stainless steel coil.
The alloy coil is mainly used for the manufacture of various kinds of chemical equipment, storage tanks and heat exchangers.
The main features include the following:
High tensile strength, good ductility, high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance, good impact toughness and wear resistance
Excellent corrosion resistance to sea water, fresh water and seawater steam, as well as many organic acids and alkalis.
Good welding performance with the help of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW) etc., can effectively prevent cracking during welding process.
